Our friend Nula's left front leg was amputated
after a running accident that dislocated her shoulder joint.
(We think she stepped in a golfer hole
while running in her 4 acre backyard).

The joint would not mend, nor hold a pin or plate
and amputation was deemed necessary
for relief of pain and discomfort and to
prevent further injury to the joint and leg.

Making the diagnosis - note healthy joint on the right side in x-ray

The following photos were taken
one week after the surgery

Nula in her new collar from DogWalkers.com in Kentucky

perfect balance

Nula loves her mom, Kate

Nula in her new coat from Luise and Kaci of Washington State

Nula in her new three legged jammies from
Mehl and Anna of Washington State

Nula still flies up the stairs

rests on the landing and then...

zips up more stairs !

After the incision heals and Nula's brindle
coat grows back, the incision will hardly be noticed.

Nula is healing well. She tires easily now
but will get her strength back soon.
The vet is pleased with how litte bruising there is.

Nula saw Dr. Shaw at Back On Track Vet Rehab
( www.backontrackvetrehab.com )
three weeks after her surgery to keep her three limbs flexible
and to show MOM how to stretch Nula's neck and right front leg.

Nula also has to learn to "sit pretty"
to give her right front leg a rest.

Nula getting deep tissue work.

Kisses for Dr. Shaw and Nula feels so much better !

Nula has received tons of good wishes
from whippet folks around the world.

Nula coat and three leg jammies and the beautiful collar.

She knows with that many friends thinking of her,
she will be a strong happy girl once again.

WE LUV u NULA !
